The State Revenue informs that the new version (version 8.5.) Of the ICMS Information and Determination Guide (GIA) is available for download from the website of the Rio Grande do Sul Department of Finance. The main novelty is the possibility of importing information from the Digital Fiscal Bookkeeping (EFD).

This means that if the EFD quality is adequate, the application will automatically fill in all GIA fields. This facility guarantees the taxpayer the conformity between the information provided in the two documents, avoiding inconsistencies and divergences of the data.

The import, which is initially optional, is expected to become mandatory in 2017. At this point, it will be possible to search for information from an incomplete EFD file, not validated by the Validation and Subscription Program (PVA) and not transmitted, with the GIA that can be edited in the application.

The State Revenue recommends, however, to import the data from an EFD file validated and signed by the PVA, ready to be transmitted, also as a way of minimizing the amount of errors that may be pointed out by the procedure. Subsequently, when the practice is mandatory, only the EFD file validated, signed and ready to be transmitted can be imported.

The conversion process is quite explanatory: there are about 70 error messages, which inform the problem encountered, the legal device (if any), the error line (when necessary) and the action to be taken for the correction.
